Acne Tips! / DIY

AGAIN FOUND ON INSPIRINGPRETTY.COM! Go check it out!

Apple Cider Vinegar or Rubbing Alcohol as Toner Both of these are highly acidic, meaning they can kill dead skin cells and clean out pores well. They work just as well as any store-bought toner and are much cheaper as well. The rubbing alcohol is especially potent, though, so be sure to pay attention to your skin when using it. If it begins to dry your skin out, use less or stop using it altogether.
Honey as a Quick Fix Honey is naturally antibacterial, which is why it’s used in many scrubs and facials. If you have a pimple that you need to get rid of by tomorrow, just put a dab of honey on it, then a band aid to keep it in place overnight. The next morning, the pimple will be gone or significantly smaller. You can also use honey by itself as a facial mask. Leave it on for an hour or longer if you wish to see a clearer complexion by the next day.
Toothpaste as a Quick Fix If you don’t have any honey around the house, you’re sure to have some toothpaste. It must be white paste and not gel, though. Just cover the pimple in toothpaste and then put a bandaid over it before you go to bed. The pimple should be gone or much smaller by the morning.
Lemon Juice as Toner Lemon works can work as a toner like apple cider vinegar and rubbing alcohol, but because it is so acidic, it can’t be left on your face for very long. Apply lemon juice to your face as a toner, and wash off after 15 minutes. In just 15 minutes, it will dramatically clean off the dirt, oil and dead skin on your face. Don’t use this one too often though. It’s a very strong treatment and because of that, your skin could become very sensitive to it.
Brown Sugar Scrub This is my personal favorite and what turned me onto using natural things rather than buying acne products. In the shower, once your skin is damp (and your pores have been opened up by the heat), scrub the acne problem areas with brown sugar. This will clean out the dirt, dead skin cells and oil clogging your pores and soften your skin as well. The next day, you will see a noticeable change in your acne and your skin will be silky smooth. If you really want to get the most out of this scrub, use toner after you get out of the shower to really clean out the sources of buildup in your pores. Use this scrub only 1-2 times per month though, because this dramatically opens and cleans your pores. If you use it too much, your body may begin to overproduce oil and your acne could get worse.
Egg White to Remove Oil Crack 1-2 eggs in a bowl separating out the yolk from the egg white. Then, beat the eggs whites gently until consistant. Next, simple spread it over your face and let sit for 15-20 minutes. The eggs white remove excess oil from your skin.
Egg Yolk to Stop Pores from Clogging Just as egg whites help acne, egg yolks have benefits as well. Most of the nutrients in eggs are found in the yolk and it’s very true for your skin. Eggs yolks contain lots of Vitamin A, which is comprised of retinoids. Retin-A, which is used in many beauty products (and you’ve probably heard of it on many commercials) is found in Vitamin A. It’s great for battling acne, because it helps regulate the amount of skin cells being produced, therefore preventing your pores from becoming clogged. Also found in Vitamin A is 13-cis-retinol, which helps regulate oil and bacteria production. So, a yolk battles all of your skin problems in one use. Just crack 1-2 eggs and separate the yolk from the egge white. Mix the yolks together then apply to your face. Within a few minutes the yolk will harden. Once hardened, let the yolk sit on your face for 15-20 minutes, then rinse off. Besides the fact that it is a very cheap treatment, the great thing is that you can use this facial mask as often as 1-2 times per week.
Freeze out Pore Problems This may sound odd, but one way to get rid of dirt, oil and dead skin cells is the freeze the pores. When the pore gets cold, it closes up, forcing out the dead skin cells, bacteria and oil. Once you’ve forced out the bad stuff from the problem area, wash it all away, so it does not spread to another part of your face. Pack a plastic bag with ice, then wrap it in a hand towel. Place it on the problem area for at least 10 minutes. Once the spot is good and cold, use a face wash and then toner.
Garlic to Prevent Breakouts Smash 2 peeled garlic cloves into a pulp or until you can squeeze juice out of it. Apply the juice to your face and leave it on for 5-10 minutes. There’s not much science behind this treatment, but it does work. The good thing is that you can use this treatment as often as you want, but don’t leave it on for long periods of time, because it may eventually burn your skin.
Mint to Soothe Skin Mint contains menthol which is a natural anti-inflammatory. So, it takes away the red plaguing your skin when you have acne. You can use either mint oil or the juice of blended mint leaves. Just apply to the affected areas of your face or your entire face for 10-15 minutes, then wash off. Use as often as you want, because it is an anti-inflammatory, it won’t bother your skin.

DIY: Face Masks and Hair Masks!

Here are some do it yourself face masks on a blog, i was just going to add the link but I figured i'd just add it here! My favorite is #5 Lemon and Egg Facial! Hope you try some out and enjoy! And 11 I do all of the time!  - London
Here is the blog I found it on! http://inspiringpretty.com
1.) Brown Sugar and Honey Facial Scrub
This is probably my favorite one. Brown sugar exfoliates the skin ridding the pores of all dirt, oil and dead skin cells causing blemishes. Honey is naturally antibacterial, so as the brown sugar scrubs away the things clogging pores, the honey cleans out the sources for this buildup to prevent future breakouts.
2.) Coffee Grounds in Conditioner
This one is really simple. Instead of throwing old coffee grounds away, toss them into your conditioner to make your hair extra shiny. That’s all it takes!
3.) Replace Conditioner with Vinegar
To get rid of the usual problems with hair: build up, dullness and just lackluster, replace your conditioner with vinegar 1-4 times a month, depending on your hair type. Just use it as you need it. And don’t worry about buying the best stuff for the best results, common white vinegar will do the trick as well as any other vinegar.
4.) Olive Oil as Hair Moisturizer
It’s easy to see how oil can moisturize your hair. It’s simple to use it as well. Simply cover your hair in olive oil and leave it in for 30-45 minutes. You can also wrap it in plastic wrap to keep it from dripping and some believe it enhances the effect.
5.) Lemon and Egg Facial
Have red splotchiness on your face? Soothe both symptoms away easily by mixing together one egg yolk and the juice of one lemon into a paste. Cover your face with it and leave it on overnight. If this seems like too much work, leave it on your face for an hour. You might not get the optimal results with this time, but you will see a difference.
6.) Replace Conditioner with Baking Soda
Want to be more like a guy and only use one thing to clean your hair? Then just add baking soda to your shampoo. It will remove build up and make hair shinier, and you can use it everyday.
7.) Degrease Oily Hair With Lemons and Aloe
Mix together 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon aloe vera. Mix it together with a normal serving of shampoo. It will get rid of your oiliness in one shower.
8.) Smooth Fizzy Hair With Honey
Add a tablespoon of honey to a litre of water. After shampooing, rinse your hair with this concoction to tame your frizz.
9.) Replace Face Wash With Skim Milk Powder
Switching face wash out with skim milk powder can make your face much softer and give you a smoother complexion. It’s also very gentle, so even the most sensitive can use it.
10.) Moisturize Skin With Honey and Olive Oil
Honey holds moisture extremely well and olive oil hydrates well, too. Mix equal parts of olive oil and honey and add a dash of lemon juice if you’d like to create a pasty lotion. Rub it onto the dry skin and let it sit for 10-20 minutes. Your skin will be hydrated for plenty of time to come afterwards.
11.) Soften Skin With Oatmeal
There are many concoctions and mask recipes that involve oatmeal, but you can use oatmeal by itself to help your skin. Ground up about 1 cup of oatmeal using a blender or coffee grinder, and add it to bath water to soften skin to baby-like quality.
12.) Treat Choline-Damaged Hair
Mix together 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1/4 cup of a peeled cucumber. Cover you hair with the mixture and leave on for 10-20 minutes. You’ll see your hair return to normal almost immediately.
13.) Tone and Rebuild Skin With Avocados and Carrots
This recipe can work wonders. Combine 1 avocado, 1 cooked carrot, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1 egg and 3 tablespoons of honey. Leave on for 10-20 minutes and then rinse. These ingredients add a multitude of vitamins, antioxidants and calcium to rebuild natural collagen, tone skin and remove age spots. There is plenty to read about the benefits of each of these ingredients, but all you need to know is that each natural element does more than any store-bought item can.
14.) Lemons or Oranges for Fine Hair Hairspray
Use Lemons for dry hair and oranges for a stronger hold. Chop up the entire piece of fruit in a bowl as to not lose any juice. Boil the fruit with 2 cups of water until soupy or when the liquid has been significantly reduced. Strain through a cloth and put into a spray bottle. The citrus will hold the hair and not damage it due to the fact that there is no alcohol.
15.) Apple Cider Vinegar for Cleanser and Toner
This eliminates dead skin cells easily, so you can use in lieu of expensive toner. That’s all
there is to it!

DIY: Hair Masks!

Here are some hair masks I found on Yahoo!

Once you’ve applied these masks to your hair, wrap your head in plastic wrap or wear a shower cap for the recommended time — your body’s heat will help the mask work. After the time is up, rinse out the mask and wash your hair with a gentle shampoo.

Coconut mask: Massage coconut cream (sold in cans at grocery stores) into your hair and leave on for an hour.

Egg mask: Mix one egg with one tablespoon of water and work through your hair. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes.

Banana mask: Blend one banana, one egg, three tablespoons honey, three tablespoons milk, and five tablespoons olive oil. Spread the mixture through your hair and leave it on for 15 to 30 minutes. Or try a banana mixed with a half-teaspoon of almond oil.

Avocado mask: Mix one avocado, one tablespoon honey, and two tablespoons olive oil. Leave it on for 20 minutes, then rinse and shampoo. For a variation, blend the avocado with one tablespoon each of lemon juice and aloe gel, and one teaspoon sea salt.

Olive oil mask: Blend two tablespoons olive oil with one egg. Leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. For a variation, try replacing the egg with a tablespoon of honey.
Some of these masks, such as the banana and avocado masks, make a large amount, and with their food content they won’t keep for long. Invite a friend or two over to share, or pass along the extra right away.

Mascara!

Covergirl lash blast luxe is one of my favorite mascaras! the brush is super easy to use and for application. The difference between lash blast luxe and all of the other lash blasts' is that it is shimmery. But it's not a black shimmery, its more of a silver black glitter, but looks great on all eye colors and is one of my favorite. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Falsies was a mascara that was raved and raved about all over youtube. I decided to try it out! I had very high expectations because every one loved it and I love maybelline, but I was not impressed. It is very clumpy, and balls up on my eyelashes, it is very good for lengthening, but not for volume. The brush is curved so it applies nicely, but it gives my eyelashes an odd slant. I find that it looks very gross if you apply it from the top to the bottom, so always apply this from the bottom of your lashes to the top of your lashes. You will either think this amazing or hate this! Rating: 1 out of 5 stars
MAC Zoom fast black lash is a great product! It is a very wet mascara and I really like wet mascaras, I think they apply nicely. But I find that it is very easy to get all over your eye, so apply carefully. I don't own the full size so I can't say anything about the packaging, because I just have a few samples. But once I'm done with the samples I am buying the full size. This product is great with or without curling your lashes, but it look amazing with curled lashes! I love this product and next time you are at a MAC store or counter ask for a sample of this mascara! Rating: 4.75 out of 5 stars
Emani soy mascara is a very natural mascara. It is a pretty pricy mascara but it is totally worth it! The brush look interesting and I thought I would hate it but I love how the brush applies! When I first tried it I thought it was ok, nothing special, I didn't use it for a few weeks then started using it up again and I loved it! I looks like I have 100,000,000 lashes! It is amazing for lengthening and volume! I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! MY FAVORITE MASCARA!
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!

Review- Remington T Studio Pearl Ceramic Curling wand

This wand is the BEST curling iron/wand I have ever used!
I own the 1" curling wand.

My Hair here is curled with the wand. Comment if you would like a tutorial on how I did it.
This is what the wand looks like.

No wonder this is called a wand, because it is magical! First, the wand is ceramic, so it's not as bad for your hair. It is a very professional wand, to turn up the temperature you press + or - and the temperature degrees show up on the screen. When I curl my hair it only takes around 7-10 minutes, and lasts for 2 days! I do have pretty easy to curl hair, but it does last all day without hairspray!

I keep mine on 356 degrees, and hold over my head so the thick part is at the top, and the thin is at bottom. (comment for tutorial)

Comes with-
*The wand
*Glove
*Plug protector

Pros-
*FAST
*Lasts long
*Ceramic
*Great Price- 26.99 at target
*Don't need hairspray
*Great on all hair types
*Hair is smooth and doesn't look frizzy

Cons-
*Hair can slide down the barrel
*Using glove doesn't deliver a very nice curl, so i have to hold it, (can get hot) and if you don't hold it right the end wont be curled
*Very curly with 1", depending if you like curl or wave

You can create a VERY curly look, a curly look (1st picture) or a wavy look, (again comment)
